Brown
Teal Conservation Trust
The BTCT was founded in 2002 with its main objective
being to save Brown Teal from extinction - to be achieved
by education, advocacy, fund raising,
consultation, liaison with all associated organisations
and overseas
waterfowl groups, and the expansion of the Brown Teal
captive breeding
programme into a major part of the recovery programme.
The BTCT has already published a Brown Teal management
manual, entitled:
"NATURAL HISTORY, CAPTIVE MANAGEMENT & SURVIVAL
OF
THE NZ BROWN TEAL". This manual is available for
$20 from the BTCT.
The manual covers in-depth information about - the
natural history of Brown Teal, the species unique features,
Brown Teal habitat, Brown Teal predators and
how to eliminate them, captive breeding and captive
management, advocacy,
how to save Brown Teal from extinction, recommended
reading, plus lots
more.
The BTCT publishes a regular Brown Teal information
newsletter, which is
distributed to all BTCT members and to all people seeking
up-to-date news
about the recovery programme.
In early 2004 the BTCT published a Brown Teal information
brochure -
